For the Hungry
Hunger doesn’t discriminate between county lines. That’s why Feeding Colorado works as a team to make sure our state and federal legislators understand the issues of Coloradans facing hunger. We and our partner agencies are on the front lines of hunger. We hear the stories. We understand the struggles. And we are committed to finding solutions. We want our lawmakers to understand hunger and food insecurity issues and how they can help.

We Care About the Issues Facing Hunger
State and Federal issues can have a positive or devastating effect on hungry men, women and children in Colorado. We work together to request support from our communities when issues affecting food insecurity arise. The Farm Bill and Child Nutrition Reauthorization are important on the Federal level. On the state level, we encourage bills and laws that help hungry people, like H.R. 1119 – encouraging farmers to donate crops and receive a tax break. For more information and to help advocate for hunger, please visit your local food bank website.
law of the land
At the state level, Feeding Colorado has supported efforts to make Colorado’s SNAP application easier to understand and fill out.
We joined forces to pass HR 1119, a bi-partisan supported tax incentive for farmers and ranchers to encourage donations of surplus food.
feeding our future
On the federal level, Feeding Colorado continues to reach out to our senators and congressional representatives, taking them on tours of our facilities and showing them our programs.
We’ve supported efforts to make the farm bill friendlier for hungry families and seniors by fighting with our sister Feeding America food banks across the U.S. to preserve funding for important programs like The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP).
We work to ensure Child Nutrition Authorization continues to fund federal programs like school and summer meals so kids in Colorado are nourished.
